Antique kimono: Superb olive SHIBORI w/ perfect HIMO! Item Description CODE RED, PEOPLE! The kimonos are hitting the fan! I have bought my dream house in Oregon so will be reaching deep into my stash of stashes & listing kimono fast & furious to clear space in my moving truck at the end of June. ENJOY! SHIBORI TO SWOON FOR This lovely haori is so perfect -- and yet so hard to photograph! So please be aware that the truest photo is the first one, the detail of the himo. All other photos came out both too dark & with too much contrast. I would describe the color as a mottled yellowish brown with just a touch of grey and the shibori stripes as mustard, turquoise that is on the green side & red that is on the orange side. The larger shibori dots scattered across the pattern are pure white. The beautiful lines of shibori that sweep across this haori resemble a necklace chain -- or perhaps teeth! I would guess that these chains were created by stitching a straight line, then gathering those threads & perhaps using clamps spaced evenly along the gathers. The turquoise, especially, looks delicious against the olive, and the red & yellow chains bring just enough spark to a palette that otherwise might be on the drab side.
