is an amazing Japanese silk tapestry probably from the Meiji Period (XIXth Century) in perfect condition! This is very likely a unique item. This tapestry was stored so it showed a few wrinkles when I took the photos, but it already settled nicely to perfectly flat. It depicts two tigers crossing a river from a Bamboo jungle into a pine forest. The weave is all silk and absolutely spectacular. I think it may have been woven with the "fingernail" method. The colors and design rendition are mind-blowing. The tapestry is bordered and backed. The borders have elaborate phoenixes and the back has a green brocaded flower patter. It is signed (embroidered) in the lower left corner. I think this tapestry is from the workshops on Jinbe Kawashima from the second half of the XIXth Century. I would appreciate more info from Ebay experts. It measures a whopping 82 by 60 inches (7ft by 5 ft)! No Reserve! Please see my other textiles. I have an awesome collection listed this week!
