M. McCormack/ This Bottle Never Sold- M. McCormack Cobalt Blue soda bottle. Here's what I found out in my research on this bottle from the internet, antique bottle collector websites and previous listings on Ebay. I believe the information is correct based only from these sources as I am not a collector. M. McCormack was in business in Richmond, VA from 1852-1858. In 1859 he moved to Nashville, TN and in 1861 moved to Louisville, Ky. My father-in-law lived in Nashville and collected antiques for over 50 years. Therefore, I believe this to be a Nashville bottle. I think the Richmond bottles had a pontil mark. This one does not. Supposedly the first bottles made had an incorrect spelling as "N. McCormack". Since molds were expensive, the mold was altered rather than replaced. The alteration from "N" to "M" in the mold can be seen in this bottle. It is 7 1/2 inches tall with no chips or cracks. There are several bubbles embedded in the glass. There are only minor abrasions on the shoulder around the bottle. (This my first Ebay auction listing and am anxious to be a reputable seller as I have a trove of additional items from my deceased father-in-law to sell.)
