This old Oriental statue stands approximately 15 1/2 inches tall. I believe that it dates to the Meiji period, and is bronze over cast iron. A magnet will stick. It weighs just over 10 pounds! I thought he might be a saki maker, as he holds a mallet over his head, perhaps to drive the bung or (plug), into the barrels on which he stands. He has the Buddha look, and I honestly don't know whether he is Chinese or Japanese? T are some welds at the feet. I don't know if this is how it was how it was assembled, or signs of a very old repair. Either way they are not noticeable, and do not detract. This piece is guaranteed old and original.
