Antique Signed Daum Nancy Majorelle Bowl Vase Red with Gold Fleck 8 3/4" x 3"We are pleased to offer a very beautiful and impressive early 20th C, French art glass bowl by Daum, with hand-wrought ironwork by Majorelle. The glass bowl is of a mottled Red delicate glass flecked with gold, that was hand-blown into a patinated, wrought iron mount. This bowl is a combination of the high-quality work produced by Daum and Majorelle, with a very unique form. Signed to base Daum Nancy France and Majorelle and measures 3." H with a diameter of 8.75" at the top.Jean Daum and the Daum family took over a glassworks near Nancy, France, in 1875. His son Auguste (who had been trained as a lawyer) joined him shortly afterward, to help improve the business. More than a decade later, and some five years after their father had died, the younger brother Antonin (a newly trained engineer) joined him. It was their business and creative skills which made the "Verrerie de Nancy" a success. The company originally specialized in watch glasses, window glass, and glassware for taverns. They branched out into tableware and exhibited some of their designs at the Paris Exhibition of 1889.
