ANTIQUE SPONGEWARE PLATE STAMPED AULD HEATHER WARE NO RESERVE The rim of this antique Scottish pottery plate is decorated with a border of blue spongeware "cowrie shells" between two yellow bands. The centre is hand-painted in red and green with additional blue spongeware flower heads.The plate is clearly back-stamped "Auld Heather Ware Scotland". These plates were made in the Links Pottery which was in the town of Kirkcaldy in Fife, Scotland. The Links Pottery was owned by David Methven & Sons and it closed in 1928. This small plate measures 6.7 inches (170 mm) in diameter.This antique plate is in good condition apart from a small but tight crack at the rim (please see photographs).
