Original fin-de-siècle print by Jules Chéret (1836-1932), "Folies-Bergère: L'Arc en Ciel", Plate No. 21 from the Les Maîtres de l'Affiche series. Printed 1896, Imprimerie Chaix. In good to very good condition (A-/B+).The blindstamp present on all Maîtres de l'Affiche prints is located in the lower right corner (see third photo). Paper has an aged tone and some light staining at the margins, but the active image area is pretty bright. Colors remain quite rich. Minor remnants of binding along reverse of left-hand margin (indicating that at one point this print had been assembled into one of the bound Maîtres de l'Affiche portfolios Chaix produced for collectors of this series.) Minor paper loss to the upper and lower right-hand corners, quarter-inch tear in the right-hand margin near the blindstamp, small tears on the lower margin near the printer's mark.Sheet size is 15-3/8" x 11-3/8".
