Original fin-de-siècle print by Jules Chéret (1836-1932), "L'Auvergne", Plate No. 173 from the Les Maîtres de l'Affiche series. Printed 1899, Imprimerie Chaix. In good to very good condition (A-/B+).The blindstamp present on all Maîtres de l'Affiche prints is located in the lower right corner (see third photo). Paper has a moderately aged tone with light staining at margins; colors are good and still quite rich (reds and yellows are particularly vibrant). Some minor paper loss along the upper margin. Pencil notation by the printer's text (see second photo) indicates that this was given as a Christmas gift in France in 1943.Sheet size is 15-3/4" x 11-7/16".
