This charming, authentic Japanese cast iron teapot, Tetsubin, weighs almost 1 and 1/2 pounds. The personal size teapot is beautifully detailed with a pine cone finial on the lid that co-ordinates nicely with the pine needle pattern on the rim of the lid and also decorates the body of the teapot. Many tea leaves have graced this little pot leaving traces in the bottom along with the lovely scent of ancient tea leaves. It is only about 4" in diameter; 5" across at the spout. About 3 1/4" to the top of the pinecone finial, about 5" from the bottom of the pot to the top of the handle.Inside the teapot is a small metal tea infuser. The lid has a tiny hole for steam to escape. Japanese characters and chop mark are embossed in the iron, just below the spout.
