This stunning Venetian glass figurine is of a young man carrying a basket of harvested vegetables on his back. This piece is incredibly well done; it was hand blown, and the attention to detail is quite apparent from the weaving of the basket to the shoes on his feet. The vegetables in the basket are of vibrant colors, and the entire piece features gold flakes scattered throughout. This piece is unusually heavy and large--it is 14" tall, 7 1/2" x 4". This Barovier piece is distinctive for its eyeless face, which was was a common feature of his work in his earlier figurines (pre-1950).
