Offering to Buddha Terazaki Kogyo Original Japanese Wootdblock Print (Meiji Period) Offering to Buddha Artist: Terazaki Kogyo (1866-1919) Format: Kuchi-e( approx: 31cmx22cm), Conditions: Fine colors and impression . Light toning and slight soiling, as is common in these Kuchi-e pieces. The print is folded vertically (now flattened) as are all kuchi-e prints (because of their use), so this is not a negative. The print is exactly as the pictures.So please, look attentively the picture. Thank you. Subject : The work is a Kuchi-e print by Kogyo. He was an important woodblock printmaker of the Meiji Period. He was one of the last heirs of Utagawa School. He was the step-son of Yoshitoshi. We can feel the influence of the tradition in the print. Kuchi-e are woodblock-printed frontispiece illustrations produced for publication in Japanese novels and literary magazines at the turn-of-the-century (1895-1912). This print represents a beauty who is praying before an altar. We certify that the print is an original Japanese woodblock print by Kogyo. Don't forget to check my other items. Thank you!
