Best Vintage 1940's Bronze Bookends Art Deco Airplane Trophy Craft Los Angeles. Bronzed spelter hollow cast metal bookends, the same classic style used by Jennings Brothers, Ronson and Dodge. These were made by a company named Trophy Craft from Los Angeles California. They would have had a proper label on the bottom which has worn off but I have been collection bookends for decades and guarantee that is the maker. Known to have been made mid 1940's era, right after World War II. The backing panel measures 3 1/4" wide and 5 1/2" tall; the airplane wingspan is 6" long and the pair weighs 6 pounds. No cracks or chips, excellent condition - check my 12 photos. One of the rarest and most desirable bookends set ever made. Often sellers call this set as being "Trench Art" made from old military parts but that is incorrect as these are normal cast metal bookends by Trophy Craft.Trophy Company Bookends:In the nineteen thirties and forties there were three prominent companies that primarily made trophies: Dodge, Champion and Trophy Craft; Dodge being the largest.
