No chips, no cracks. T here are some minor scratches on the bottom of the box and on the back side of the lid (Please refer to the last 5 pictures to check them.) Size Box: L 5.9"(15.0cm) x W 5.9"(15.0cm) x H 2.6"(6.6cm) Tray: L 8.1"(20.5cm) x W 8.1"(20.5cm) x H 1.1"(2.8cm) Description of item This is a vintage Japanese box & tray of Wakasa Lacquer ware, which was made about 80-90 years ago. Natural wood is coated with Japanese high quality lacquer. More than 30 process flows were needed to manually manufacture this box and tray & it took a ling time, as a matter of course. The making of Wakasa lacquer ware began at the beginning of the Edo period (1600-1868), when lacquerers of the Obama clan near Wakasa Bay started decorating their work with designs depicting elements of the ocean floor, having got the idea from techniques used in Chinese lacquer ware.
