The golden age of American cast iron banks lasted from 1869 to 1910. There are two types of iron banks — still and mechanical. This iron bank is a still bank. Still banks are primarily repositories and usually take the form of an animal or human figure with a coin slot. To access the deposited coins, you remove the screw. We found this figurine iron still bank at an auction. We do not know if it is an original or reproduction. The bank is in good condition with some missing specks of paint which you can see in the photos. A little girl sits on a potty eating watermelon. This iron bank is culturally classified as Black Americana . It is very heavy and stands 4.75 inches tall. Good luck - don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.
