This bronze Buffalo represents power in the Bobo culture . One can notice the intricate geometric designs and the detailed Tick birds.The Tick bird is a popular addition as they are valued for its symbolic relationship to bush cows and buffaloes. The buffalo is the most popular animal used in the jewelry of the Bobo people. This statue originated in the village of Gurunsi, Upper Volta. It was acquired from the Tribal Arts Gallery in New York City in the 1970s. It is an Early to Mid 20th century piece.It is 11 inches long and 7 inches high.
