Here we have the American Flyer by Lionel No. 6-48438 Cities Service 3-dome tank car. Just a super looking tank car. This is a nice bright green tank car. This item is still in the plastic insert inside the box. The item has never been out of the plastic and grades at C-9. The box is sharp which is not always the case with the boxes from this time period even when the car is new. Very nice. Don't let this one get away. Have fun bidding on this item. BP.This item is part of a quite large collection of newer production American Flyer that was acquired over the years in the Louisville area. All of the collection is 'S' gauge and most of the collection is American Flyer by Lionel, but there will also be 'S' Helper Service, K-Line, American Models and Mike's Train House. In addition to the regular cataloged items, there were also many club cars (TCA, NASG etc.). The family of the original collector has asked me to sell the items. Most will be sold here through Ebay. The gentleman collector bought the vast majority of these trains new and NEVER had them near any track. There was not even a test track in his home. He just bought the trains to collect and look at. To be on the safe side, I'll be grading most of the trains at C-9, although, most have never been run or even taken out of the box except to be photographed. While most were bought through Lionel dealers as new, a few may have been bought on the secondary market and I'll try to note any sticker residue or damage to the boxes as well as broken door pins, catwalks etc. (there will not be many), and if the cars might have been on track. The original owner did have some sort of marking system using small square stickers, mostly red. These easily come off, but I'll leave that to the next owner. Because most of the trains are exactly as the original manufacturer packed them, I will not be 'unpacking' them anymore than necessary to take a representative picture. Any items that still have the original shipping carton will be noted. If there is no note, then there is NO original cardboard shipping carton. If you have any questions or need additional photographs, don't hesitate to ask. The plan at this point is to be selling between six to ten items a week and believe me it will take several years. There will be no rhyme or reason to the selling pattern (no numerical order or year of production groupings etc.). There will be breaks during big train shows (York, 'S' Fest etc.) and a slowed pace in the summer. Just bookmark this site and visit often.As with all Ebay sales by Farner's Flyer, there is a low starting bid and no reserve. For the most part, the starting price will be $4.99 for single freight cars, $9.99 for passenger cars and accessories and $24.99 for engines. There will be NO reserves as the family wants to sell the trains. This item will sell. The present seller has been a TCA member since 1980.I try to guessestimate the postage as best I can. All packages are mailed out USPS Priority Mail and flat rate boxes are used when available. USPS Priority Mail only covers insurance up to $50. Any overage you Postage on this item will be $13.All recognized payment methods accepted (no cash), but Paypal encouraged.All payments must be initiated within 72 hours.During the season I do various trains shows in the Midwest including the monthly Great Midwest Train Show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Chicago as well as the two TCA Shows in York, PA along with some Great Train Shows. If you feel that our paths are going to cross at one of these shows and you want the trains hand-delivered that would be fine to help you save on postage.
