Calf Creek Point from Arkansas. Guaranteed genuine and in excellent condition. A classic, rare, and highly collectible projectile point. Displays the deep notching and long heavy barbs diagnostic of Calf Creek Points, one barb being fully intact and the other about half intact and probably broken prehistorically. The length and roundness of the tip is indicative of several prehistoric resharpenings which is another common feature of Calf Creeks. Gregory Perino described these points in Oklahoma Anthropological Society Bulletin #3, 1968, as a point type named from examples gathered from Calf Creek Cave in Searcy County Arkansas. The point for sale here is known to be from Arkansas, thus near the epicenter of this type of artifact. Calf Creeks are generally early Archaic, possibly around 5000 BC.Nice dark brown chert and good genuine patina. At the most there may be two modern chips which are tiny and nearly imperceptible on the long barb and corner of the stem section. As shown in the photos this point is roughly 2 inches long and 2 inches wide. Displays well! Calf Creeks are unmistakable and truly stand out in a collection, one of my personal favorite point types! You won't be disappointed by this example. Please look closely at photos as they should be considered part of the description. Should you have questions please ask. Sorry, read more
