Weight : 19 grams Material : bake clay *** History Of Than Chao Khun Nor *** Than Chao Khun Nor was born on Saturday, 5th Febuary BE2440 and was the eldest in the family of 5 siblings. He was among the first batch of students at the Official University of Kingdom Siam, now known as Chulalongkorn University. After completing his studies, Chao Khun Nor became an officer in the King's Palace, then ruled by the 6th King of Thailand. He became the closest attendant to the King and he moved to the King's chamber and attended to the King's daily needs. After the death of the 6th King, Than Chao Khun Nor was devastated. He left the palace in BE2468. His parents wanted him to get married with a lady teacher after seeing Than Chao Khun Nor so sad over the death of the King. However, before anything could be firmed up, Than Chao Khun Nor told his parents that he wanted to be ordained. Than Chao Khun Nor ordained on 23th March BE2468 at Wat Thepsirintahwaht, a day before the 6th King was cremated. He became a monk as thamboon (giving merit) for the 6th King. Than Chao Khun Nor was a strict vegetarian who consumed only 1 meal a day and decided never to leave the monkhood. He was ordained by Somdej Phra Putta Koshacharn (Charoen), who was also his preceptor. Phra Putwiriyaaigon, the abbot of Wat Sommanatwihahn and Phra Udon Seelahkon Wat Thepsirin were the Dhamma teachers. After he was ordained, many devotees came to him for fortune telling and seek help. Than Chao Khun Nor have never accepted any gifts and offerings because he observed strictly the 227 precepts in monkhood and this lead to the unhappiness of the devotees. Than Chao Khun explained to them that he ordained for the purpose for the King and to study whole-hearted the teaching of Buddha, most importantly the reason why he required concentration on his self cultivation was to fully understand the teaching of Buddha so that he can help the devotees to solve their problem. Than Chao Khun Nor meditated from day to night in everyday . He was a vegetarian and he eats one vegetable and cereal meal everyday. From the day he enters monkhood till his death, he never step out of the temple even though during War II when all the other monks are running for their lives. Than Chao Khun Nor has the capability to foresee the future and he can also read anybody mind. He knew what could happen in the near future. Amulet already blessed by other great guru monks from other temples were also brought to be blessed by him. Than Chao Khun Nor lived a life of excellent austerity and was well known for his meditative powers. He passed away on 8 January BE 2514 at the age of 73 in a beautiful posture with his palms placing together, paying his last respect to the Buddha. Although Than Chao Khun Nor has passed away, he is still fondly remembered until today and is immortalized in the hearts of many people.
