Original pastel and pencil on paper attributed to Charles Gates Sheldon of illustration for Parents Magazine. Sheldon (1889-1961) was a noted artist and illustrator. His most famous creation was "The Breck Girl" for Breck Shampoo EDUCATION: Art Students League; studies in Paris with Alphonse Mucha COMMISSIONS: Brown and Bigelow; Colliers; Saturday Evening Post; Photoplay; Parents Magazine; Ladies Home Journal; Woman's Home Companion; Theater Magazine; Screenland; Movie Classic; The New Movie; Motion Picture; Radio Digest Size of this beautiful painting is 11 1/2 x 8 1/2. Unsigned with estate stamp verso. The work was obtained from a dealer who had bought this as well as the other illustrations we are listing from a home where there had been a number of items from the artist's estate. As it is not signed, the illustrations are being offered as in the manner of Charles Gates Sheldon. Very good condition, ready for matting and framing. Pastels by Sheldon have brought as much as $17,000 at major auction houses. Our minimum for this splendid work is much lower.
