Here is a Civil War discharge for John Bone of Ohio who was a member of the famed "Squirrel Hunters". When Ohio faced threats from the Rebs raiding across the Ohio River at Cincinnati, governor David Tod raised the call for volunteers and thousands of Ohio boys showed up, many with their squirrel rifles, fresh off the farms. They came to be known as the "Squirrel Hunters". This paper document measures 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" and is in the period frame as found. Some general discoloration consistent with age but overall a nice and solid document with no damage. Has ink entries. Lithographed by Ehrgott and Forbriger of Cincinnati.
