This copper boiler is one of the definitive examples of Civil War period mess cups. This rolled lip cup with a wire handle stands 6" high with the handle extended up. It measures 3-1/2" across the dovetail bottom. The entire cup has been put together using unusual dovetail seams that can be seen in the scans The cup has seen only moderate use but shows the effects of repeated heating.
