WELCOME Thank you for visiting! This is a very rare and important piece of Depression glass that I was lucky enough to obtain at a recent living estate auction. The owner is a wealthy lady who lived in Muncie, Indiana for many years; she later moved to Winter Park, Florida w she remains. While she lived in northern Indiana, she was a very active and aggressive collector of all things glass. I am still selling the last few things from her St. Clair glass sale about three months ago! Now she has decided to unwind her collection of Depression glass. She was a charter member of the 20-30-40 Society of Chicago, probably the premier collectors' group in the United States for this genre. She released more than a thousand pieces for this sale. This is a gorgeous large cobalt blue pedestal bowl. It is generously adorned with inlaid silver trim around the mouth of the bowl, inside the bowl, and around the exterior of the bowl vessel and the pedestal. The silver is used to create a circle around the internal base of the bowl, with longitudinal lines radiating upward. Over these lines are painted flowers that appear to be crabapples, while t are three birds that appear to be bluebirds flying amid the branches of the trees. The external markings are stylized vines with oval leaves. T is light-to-moderate erosion of the silver on some figures; read more
