This Deluxe model is the "step-up" from the "In-the-White" version. All wooden surfaces have been sanded, and military-grade neoprene is used. In addition, I will be sending along a video with each of these to help the buyer get "up-and-running." The videos were generated to ship along with more expensive versions of this tool, but all the principles presented in the video apply to this version also. I will also include samples of the type of copper tips I recommend using in the handles / Ishi's used with the tool. Unlike the "In-the-White" versions, for my Deluxe version I start with the best grade of 2X6 that I can buy at my local Lowes and/or Home Depot, and I move a lot of stacked lumber to get to the boards I use on this version of this tool. In addition, ALL cuts on this version have been finish-sanded and all angles have been finalized and sanded. All the cut boards are then oil-stained prior to assembly. Final assembly of this version utilizes ONLY rust-proof screws. NO NAILS OR GLUE is used for the final assembly. This version can be fully disassembled is there is ever a need , by using a "star-driver" screwdriver or bit. When the buyer receives the tool it is ready for the application of polyuretane (or other surface coat) if the buyer chooses. This is my LPF2 V5 (the 5th and latest version of this tool). The acronym stands for Levered Pressure Flaker, 2nd Model. Tools such as these are commnonly called "jigs" within the knapping community. This tool can be used to push flakes the size of which a knapper could never achieve with normal pressure flaking. In addition it will allow knappers with functional limitations such as poor grip, nerve and muscle tissue atropy to continue to pressure flake reproductions. This tool is EXTREMELY easy to get started with. After taking 10 minutes or so to anchor the tool to a steady surface, the user can be using it to knap after only 10 - 15 minutes of practice. And with continued practice the user will quickly learn to use this tool to push off flakes with much greater ease and with much greater consistency than ever before. And it works with EVERY KNAPPABLE ROCK that I am aware of. As evidence of that please take a look at the reproductions shown in the photos. They were all made of 11/05/2011 and 11/06/2011 with the LPF2 shown in the pics. Please note that 5 of the points shown were made from UNTREATED Ft. Payne chert. As anyone experienced with Ft. Payne will tell you, this is a tough material to work. With the levered force one can produce with this tool it just is not a problem. The other points, blades, and preforms shown are made from Upper Mercer, Kaolin, Hornstone, Buffalo River and agate. Special Notes: 1) This auction is for the LPF2 only.
