Department of the Interior Commendable Service Award - Medal Engraved: HENRY K. DINAN / JAN. 31, 1953 Dinan was born on March 11, 1886 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts the son of Henry Dinan and Marie McGrath. In 1900 the Dinan family was living in Ashland, New Hampshire. Dinan married Ida Mae Lefevure on May 31, 1909 in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Dinan enlisted in the US Navy and was serving aboard the USS New Hampshire when the 1910 Census was conducted. He was living with his wife in Capital Hill, Maryland by 1915. He eventually moved into the District of Columbia. He was a clerk for the Department of the Interior, by 1934 he was a Clerk in the General Land Office. The 1930 US Census lists Dinan as a World War I veteran. He did not register for the draft until September 1918. Dinan may have included his earlier enlistment in the Navy as qualifying him as a veteran. Dinan died in July 1969 in Richmond, Virgina
