This combination of Armoire and built in dresser is also called a compactum. It was made in England circa 1890. We purchased this piece in Worcester, England. The Gothic Revival Compactum is made of Mahogany, and has a rich, medium Mahogany patina. This is an English Victorian three-door compactum, in very good condition. When first gazing upon the piece one is struck by the lovely centerpiece mirror with a Gothic arch, on the central door. However, attention is soon drawn above to the gracefully formed, slightly coved cornice with an opulently carved Egyptian cartouche. Flanking the mirror are two sunken panel doors with gorgeously carved scroll work medallions at the top. Doors opened to reveal a fully fitted interior with six storage compartments on the right. Behind the central and left doors is a spacious compartment with two clothing rails running across. This stunning compactum sits upon square feet. Hardware on this piece is all original including intricate Gothic revival scroll work escutcheon backplates, support finely detailed drop pull handles. A statuesque piece, read more
