Eskimo/Inuit Adze tool; late 1600's into 1700's (prehistoric). This wooden handle and stone blade were found together in the permafrost on St. Lawrence Island. The lashing of fake sinew has been restored. The blade is a stone I have not identified, possibly a silica-ized slate? It is very sharp, this could have been a fleshing tool. Complete tools are rare, this is a very nice example; blade is 3" long, handle is 12" long. You could take off the fake sinew lashing but I would leave it on as it holds it in place very well and you can get a feel for the tool. Flat rate shipping of $12, I will pay any extra and send via USPS priority mail, insured.
