FENTON BURMESE 4 LILLY EPERGNE. Burmese glass was developed by the Mt. Washington glass company in 1885 and was named by Queen Victoria because the shaded colors reminded her of a sunset in Burma. The Fenton Art Glass Company is the only company to successfully replicate the original Burmese formula in modern times. Fenton introduced Burmese in 1970 and continues to produce it. Fenton's 1983 Connoisseur Collection Burmese glass four-horn epergne was produced in very limited numbers. This is #353 of 500 and a twentieth-century heirloom destined to be admired by many but possessed by few. The epergne is in excellent condition--no chips, cracks, repairs, restorations, etc. It is Fenton's #7605BR with a 'smooth as satin' satin finish. It is pictured on page 70 of the Fenton Burmese Glass by COE and on page 118 of FENTON GLASS COMPENDIUM 1970-1985 by John Walk.
