Description: Emperor Song Huizong ( 1082 - 1135 ) His taboo name is Zhao Ji, was the 11th son of Emperor Shenzong. At first he was Prince Duan. When Zhezong died without heirs he became emperor. He was especially fond of the Chinese ancient musical instrument. The connection of Huizong to the musical instrument is emphasized by the famous painting at right. He is variously said to have painted it, and to be the person in the center playing the musical instrument at a table in a garden. This is also perhaps the earliest known depiction of the musical instrument being played at a table. An artist himself, Huizong heavily patronized the arts and expended a lot supporting Daoism and Daoist hermits. T is an artist's inscription on this painting and it was written by Wang Youdun.
