To put the size of this 1950s Murano Art Glass Lamp into perspective, I photographed my 3 year old son standing next to it (disclaimer: rambunctious little boy not included in auction!). This piece is as beautiful in person as it is in shear scale, and it is certain to be a welcomed addition to any Italian Art Glass collection or be a focal point in Hollywood Regency and 50s retro decor. The glass body is a two part assembly: the first piece of the lamp measures roughly 21" tall, with a melon-like base with thick lobes that spiral upward to create the mid-section of the lamp; the second piece measures about 9" tall and is connected to the first by a single, patinated brass mount. Overall, the lamp stands over 49" tall (from base to finial), and the glass measures approximatley 30" tall, its widest section being approximatley 12". As for condition, the glass is in perfect shape, showing no damages or repairs of any kind. The only issue with this lamp is that its original, gilded base, is a little loose. Rest assured, I am only mentioning this very minor issue for accuracy's sake, as the lamp stands strong. As for functionality, I have not attempted to use this lamp, and, based on age alone, would advise that you have it rewired.Weighing in at approximatley 40lbs and standing over 4 ft tall, this lamp will require professional packing. read more
