This is the 400/144 5 1/2" round butter dish and cover in the Candlewick pattern made by the Imperial Glass Company. It in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. While the Candlewick pattern itself was made from 1936 until 1984 this style butter had an on and off history of production. It was first issued in 1943 and was made until being discontinued in 1967. It was reissued in 1973 only, discontinued again, and then reissued in 1976 as a Covered Box and continued to be made until 1980 when it was permanently dropped. It is about 4 1/4" high to the top of the finial, 5 5/8" in diameter and 6 7/16" across including the handles.
