Studio Del Mosaico of *St Pietro in Vaticano. A hand made micro mosaic miniature inserted in black slate or marble depicting Madonna del Perpetuo Socoorso (perpetual help), number "777" appears to be dated "1944". The image is centered in a gilt glass mosaic back ground with Madonna seen with an elaborate halo in Byzantine style and holding baby Jesus. Madonna is dressed in a blue cape which reveals a red undergarment and faces downwards. Baby Jesus is dressed in a green and orchid gown looking towards the right side of the composition, no signature found but numbered. Perfect condition with no missing tesserae. Original label present in back, slight scratches noted to the top of slate. Overall measures 4 1/4" by 3 7/8
