Rare Early 1900s Tiny SWISS Wind-Up Music Box, 2 Tunes, 1 Being“My Old Kentucky Home” Over the past 40+ years I have collected small German music boxes from time to time. They were all made in Germany as the back’s lithographed labels indicated as well as the titles of songs the boxes played. This box, however, is stamped “SWISS” on the metal side and is missing a back label, leaving only its rusted steel back. This box, measuring 3 1/8” across by 1 ¼” tall, is larger than most I’ve had because it plays 2 tunes, “My Old Kentucky Home” & another tune I recognize but cannot identify. There is rust on 2 areas of the sides so its bright shiny silver finish came off there. The top of the boxed is covered with a small round color lithograph which features children at the seaside in the early 1920s, judging by her clothing; details include sand pails, toy shovels, a rake, & a sieve as well as another child; boats, a sailboat, & even a light house are seen in the background of the sea, sky, & rocky promontory. The porcelain & nickel plated wind-up key has wear to the picture under it even though it does not touch the picture. These are very rare & hard to find. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only, with no handling fees.
