Japan-Issue Non-Conforming Taylormade XR-05 DrHead 11.5 This XR-05 is Taylormade's top gun in their renowned Japan-only XR line. It was designed and made in Japan, and was never intended for the US market, thanks to USGA's "spring effect" limit. This driver was meant to be made non-conforming right from the drawing board. Without the USGA limits to worry about, Taylormade engineers were able to put their best distance-producing technology into XR drivers. Starting 01-01-2008, Japan adopted the same limit on "spring effect" COR value to .830, effectively ended the production of the hi-COR XR line. The historical value and crazy long distance made the hi-COR XR line very sought after in Japan and around the world. This XR-05 model blows away Taylormade's conforming low-COR drivers such as R9 and Burner. With the carbon crown and well designed internal weighting, it features low and deep center of gravity. What's Non-conforming products ? This driver is a NON CONFORMING Japan version that's no longer being produced. Even in Japan, non conforming drivers become increasingly harder to find each year. This driver model was never released in the USA. Please keep in mind this driver is not allowed in official USGA governed tournaments.
