Japan-Issue Non-Conforming Taylormade XR-05 DrHead 11.5 This XR-05 is Taylormade's top gun in their renowned Japan-only XR line. It was designed and made in Japan, and was never intended for the US market, thanks to USGA's "spring effect" limit. This driver was meant to be made non-conforming right from the drawing board. Without the USGA limits to worry about, Taylormade engineers were able to put their best distance-producing technology into XR drivers. Starting 01-01-2008, Japan adopted the same limit on "spring effect" COR value to .830, effectively ended the production of the hi-COR XR line. The historical value and crazy long distance made the hi-COR XR line very sought after in Japan and around the world. This XR-05 model blows away Taylormade's conforming low-COR drivers such as R9 and Burner. With the carbon crown and well designed internal weighting, it features low and deep center of gravity. What's Non-conforming products ? This driver is a NON CONFORMING Japan version that's no longer being produced. Even in Japan, non conforming drivers become increasingly harder to find each year. This driver model was never released in the USA. Please keep in mind this driver is not allowed in official USGA governed tournaments. USGA banned these drivers because they have the "spring effect" COR value over .830 and hit the balls too long. ( USGA non conforming Driver list ) For average golfers like us who don't compete in USGA events, this driver will bring nothing but pure enjoyment when you out-drive your buddies' spanking new Burner, Diablo, or Machspeed by 20+ yards. Well your buddy may never realize what kind of monster he is running into, since the scorelines on the face are the only visual difference between the regular and Hi-COR models. The inner beast is well hidden in this Japanese beauty! What's Japanese products ? In general, Japan-issue drivers sell for more than twice as expensive as US market models. There are reasons for it. In the U.S., most golfers want to play what they see their favorite tour players using. But in Japan, average golfers are more aware that there's a lot of difference between the pros and the rest of us. They are more willing to spend money to get equipment which is packed with technology that helps average golfers the most. W e might call that "buying a game", But it's probably a more realistic way for 90 percent of golfers to buy equipment. Club makers have to go extra miles in order to compete in the Japanese market, including using different material and manufacturing process. shafts: Japan-issue drivers come with made-in-japan premium stock shafts. Although they may feel a little softer when you bend them by hands, they always amazingly kick back right in time to give you a tremendous impact. These shafts reward smooth swings, and over time, they train the player to do so. When you hit the ball with it, You can feel the difference so clearly !!! driver heads: They may look similar but they usually feel a lot different than US market models. Some people describe it as a softer feel.
