*DIMENSION: 4 5/8"~11,50cm+ H(igh) x 3 3/8"~8,50cm+ W(ide) x 3/8"~1cm T(hick) A rare & fine Japanese lacquered non-magnetic metal-base card/cigarette case. The case exterior is fully covered in pitch black lacquer with 2 overlaid scenes: a hilltop fisherman village overlooking a vast bay under Mt. Fuji with drifting saliboats, and 2 palanquin carriers blowing a fire brazier for tea. Both are copiously highlighted in spreckle gold (typically of Sempoh/Makie lacquer) & colourful mute enamels whilst the back is left blank (plain black) with what-looks-like a modernized i-ching symbol. The case's interior is in silver colour with a gild Kanji script right under the spring retaining band (either an artist's signature, or a dedication?). Last picture is an excerpt (not included) about the process of making a Sempoh piece.
