Nihon Toko Jiten Shinto and Koto The most famous and comprehensive Japanese sword reference books available. A must have for those interested in Japanese swords. A used Japanese language two volume set of old and new swords, with detailed oshigata (rubbings) and information, including province and unique characteristics, of important sword smiths with their ratings. The koto (old sword) volume is 619 pages and was published in 1979. The shinto (new sword) volume is 492 pages and was published in 1978. The set was first written by Yoshio Fujishiro and revised by the late Japanese Living National Treasure Polisher, Matsuo Fujishiro. Hardcover with dust jackets--the dust jackets have minor wear and tear. The set is in very usable condition although it does have flaws:1. Nine pages (all unnumbered at the end of the book) of the koto volume are dog eared--please see photo. It seems to be a production error not man-made.2. Damage to the top outside corners of pages 3 to 32 of the shinto volume. The damage varies from page to page--please see photos for worst cases.3. Binding problem between pages 192 and 193 of the shinto volume. Again it appears to be a production problem and only appears between these two pages--please see photo.Otherwise, the set is in good used condition, and, again, very usable.
