This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Ishido Teruhide saku 石堂輝秀作", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca.1940 era made blade. Teruhide`s real name is Ihara Kametaro, born in 1902, lived in Omiya city, Saitama prefecture, made swords during WWll time period and after the war, listed in John Slough`s book page 171. The blade is traditional hand forged, water quenched Gendaito blade, in original war time polish, no rust, no stain and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy gunome- choji temper and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is heavy metal scabbard, no dent, lacquer loss, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba, seppa and lock pin are matched number 35 stamped. Lock mechanism works fine. It came with blue/ brown lieutenant grade sword tassel, no cut no fade and in mint condition. It measures 27+1/4" tip to the guard, 26+3/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 7 mm thickness at the notch and 40" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. No international shipping.
