This is a Japanese WWll Naval officer`s sword in kaigunto mountings. The blade is signed "Daido 大道", dated "Showa Jukyu-nen (1944) 昭和十九年", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Daido lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during WWll time. The blade is in original war time polish, no rust, no stain and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy gunome with togariba temper and has deep temper at the point. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is polished large samegawa (ray-skin) covered wood scabbard, shows aged lacquer loss but no tear, no dent, no bend and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in mint condition. Tsuba and seppa are matched number 131 stamped. It measures 25+3/4" tip to the guard, 24+7/8" cutting edge, 1+1/4" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 37+1/4" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. No international shipping.
