Kabamba Jasper Rough Rock Stone Slab This Kabamba Jasper fossil slab is not polished. It is 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches and 6 mm thick. It weighs .38 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 3 pictures. Kabamba Jasper is a lovely green orbicular jasper from Madagascar. Kabamba Jasper is a sedimentary fossil, a stromatolite algae. Stromatolites are the oldest known fossils, dating back more than 3 billion years. Basically stromatolites are prokaryotes (sort of an ancient cousin to algae) that thrived in warm aquatic environments and built reefs much the same way as coral does today. They are the oldest living organisms on the planet, and are believed to be the first living organisms on Earth. Shipping terms: Cabochons, rough rock poundage and some other items I ship for free.
