ITEM DESCRIPTION: 16 x 20 lithograph of Raider Great Ken "The Snake" Stabler. This print was autographed by Ken Stabler in person at a show I promoted at the Berkshire Mall, Old State Road & Route 8, Lanesborough MA 01237, in March 1995. This autograph is not a copy or a facsimile. This print is by artist Michael Armstrong . This print combines a great closeup of Ken as seen on an SI cover, an action shot showing his trademark form, the classic playoff "sea of hands" pass against the Miami Dolphins and a snake ready to strike. ABOUT KEN STABLER: Kenneth "Kenny" Michael Stabler (born December 25 , 1945 in Foley, Alabama ) is a former American football quarterback in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders (1970-1979), the Houston Oilers (1980-1981), and the New Orleans Saints (1982-1984). He played college football at the University of Alabama .Ken won high school state championship in 1962 and 1963 and had a career 29-1 record from 1961-1963. 1965 SEC champion. 1966 Orange Bowl champion. In 1967 he was the Sugar Bowl MVP and SEC player of the year under legendary coach "Bear" Bryant. This game eliminated Miami from the playoffs after they had made it to the Super Bowl in each of the previous 3 seasons. Ken Stabler also has an NFL rule named after him. The Ken Stabler rule -- on fourth down at any time in the game, or any down in the final two minutes of play, if a player fumbles, only the fumbling player can recover and/or advance the ball. If that player's teammate recovers the ball, it is placed back at the spot of the fumble. A defensive player can recover and advance at any time of play. Enacted in 1979 in response to the 1978 "Holy Roller" play.
