The original buildings date to the 18th century. These reproductions brilliantly capture the vivid details of the originals down to individual bricks, boards, and trim. The buildings include lights further adding to their ambiance. They are now long out of production (OOP) and are quite difficult to find. They would make a great gift for anyone interested in colonial history, Virginian history, or anyone who loves high-quality, ceramic, miniatures. Lang and Wise also made a wide variety of accessories to go with these buildings.Historical background : During the 1700’s in Williamsburg, which was the capitol of Virginia at the time, taverns became the social and political centers of the city. The King’s Arms Tavern was one of them. Operated in the 1770’s by Jane Vobe, it was considered the most “genteel” and was patronized by a select clientele that included George Washington and Revolutionary leader General Thomas Nelson, Jr., of Yorktown.
