★ LARGE 43" ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN TRENCHER DOUGH BOWL ~ BUY IT NOW! ★ Up for sale is this wonderful, old, large antique primitive hand-made wooden trencher or dough bowl. The trencher was imported from Eastern Europe. It is rectangular in shape and measures 43.25" L x 15" W x 6" - 7.5" D. It is a beautiful large trencher unlike very many others. It is a warm ash toned color. Big trenchers like this are becoming scarce! This is a well made trencher with beautiful carving marks that add extra character. It's a not too heavy trencher in that it weighs in at 12 lbs. It has old world charm including a turned rounded bottom and many evidences of being hand carved from one single piece of wood. There are no repairs to this piece. The ends of the trencher are nicely squared off and only a little worn. There are no worm holes on this bowl. This is unusual for these old bowls as they typically have hundreds of worm holes but we couldn't find any on this bowl. It does have many character scratches to the interior and spotting or differences in color from age and use. Look at the color, WOW! We have tried to show all of this in the photos. It has a fairly well rounded bottom. Many pieces like this wobble significantly or are uneven. This one is well done and does wobble just a little. It is rounded in the long dimension. One end sits slightly higher (6" & 6.5" at left and 7" & 7.5" at right in the straight on long side picture) than the other which is indicative of large trenchers and is a defining character of being made before machines took over and hand made craftsmanship became a rare item. It is a deep and long trencher as you can see from the photos and would make a great showpiece in a window, on a trunk, or simply as a display. It will hold all kinds of seasonal decorations, greens, yarn, fruits, pumpkins, or even gifts! It is really a beautiful old bowl.
