A fine large old Northwest Coast Salish Indian or possibly Nootka hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the mid 1900's. The totem features great imaginative charming playful imagery featuring a winged Thunderbird and a smiling whale, painted in great old pigments. The totem stands 13 3/4" tall with a large 13 3/4" wingspan, base is 6" x 5". The totem is unsigned and unmarked as was common for the age of creation. The wings unscrew for careful safe shipping.
