LARGE Vintage Japanese Kutani Cat Maneki Neko Signed NR Offered is a life sized Kutani cat figurine measuring 10 inches tall by 5-1/2 inches across its base. It has a raised Satsuma style hand painted slip decoration done in pale pink, blue and white, in a floral and oriental medallion pattern with gold gilt accents. There is an old discolored crack in the porcelain on the base of the raised arm, please note photos. It is signed on the base and I believe it to be an old piece, possibly Meiji period or earlier. I have been unable to find another example of this cat anywhere on the internet and believe it to be quite scarce. It is very heavy and substantial weighing nearly 5 pounds unboxed.
