LEATHERBACK SEA TURTLE AUTHENTIC ALASKAN NATIVE CRAFT/ARTWORK Carved ENTIRELY in Alaska from Alaskan Materials .......................... the item was transformed into an authentic Alaskan Native article of handicraft or clothing by a Native Alaskan Eskimo ! Up for your consideration, a SEA TURTLE, carved in the traditional, Eskimo style, from Alaskan Walrus Ivory. The eyes are baleen inlays. THE FINS AND HEAD HAVE BEEN ADDED. The TURTLE is APPROX. 2.75 inches long and 3/4 of an inch at it's thickest. Carved from walrus ivory, with baleen inlayed eyes. The base is a 2.50 x 1.50 inch slab of WALRUS ivory . The intermediate support is a WALRUS IVORY tusk end that was used to provide blanks for carved needles and small birds.
