Welcome to the continuation of my Spring cleaning sale! 's a really NICE type 3 (original low wood) National Postal Meter M1 Carbine stock with a few bumps and dings -- but no splits or cracks. Sling well is faintly marked Trimble TN for Postal Meter rifles. Has the NPM / FJA cartouche on the right side of the butt -- it's light, but readable. Has a "P" on the pistol grip, and AAV post war inspection stamp. This stock was cut from a VERY nice piece of walnut with good graining, and comes with Postal Meter recoil and buttplate -- also one of the VERY few TN marked handguards I have available. Take this one home and help me get my garage cleaned out! No M2 cut. This is one of the last of my Postal Meter stocks! I've been collecting stocks since I was a kid, and decided it was time to clean out the garage. (I think I bought my first stock in 1968!) I've sold over a hundred stocks with 100% positive feedback! Now the collection is about to reach the end, so if you need a stock, now is the time to buy. I have very few left, no new sources for buying more, and very little desire to clutter up the garage again. Attention carbine stock shoppers -- know your stock manufacturer codes! I've recently seen stocks listed on ebay which were incorrectly identified as to maker. Don't be disappointed -- do your research before you buy! A public service message from Studie289. I've had quite a few questions over the last weeks as I've sold off my carbine stock collection, so I thought I'd add the following info to answer some questions that have come up: The manufacturer's code appears in the stock's sling well, most stocks were made by subcontractors and supplied to one or more rifle maker. The "cartouche" appears on the right side of the butt, and indicates that the stock was originally issued on that maker's rifle. A manufacturer's code is a pretty good indicator as to who used the stock, for example, the code LWU indictes the stock was made by Lum Woodworking for Underwood. The code LWB indicates the stock was made for IBM. However... these codes cannot be taken as absolute proof that the stock was issued on that maker's rifle. Only a cartouche indicates this with any certainty. As proof of this, I have collected several stock which illustrate this point... Such as a "Trimble TN", which is normally associated with National Postal Meter, but in this case bears an Inland cartouche. The bottom line is that this stock was issued on an Inland rifle. I also have an even rarer example, an "RMC" marked stock made by Rockola, but wears a WRA/GHD cartouche, clearly showing that the stock was originally issued on a Winchester. T are also a few cases w a stock may have a sling well marking that is associated with a particular rifle maker, but bears no cartouche on the right side of the butt. In most cases, the cartouche has been sanded off during an arsenal rebuild, but it may also indicate that the stock was issued as a replacement. The most common mistake is in the case of "LW" marked stocks -- these were issued on Underwood carbines, but were also issued as replacements. The presence of an Underwood cartouche is the only way to know for certain that the stock was issued on an Underwood. The stocks I sell are 100% original USGI issue. All markings are original. All bumps and dings are "original" -- these are former military stocks issued on weapons in time of war, and should not be mistaken for pristine, unused items.
