This lot, A MARBLE CONSIGNMENT , consists of a 2" (51 mm) hand made "Quadruple Ribbon Core" (ca. 1850-1870) in Near Mint + (8.9) condition with a couple pinprick flakes and tiny subsurface moons/reflections, as well as a touch of wear and pinpricking (examined, as always, under 20-power magnification with strong lighting). It has four sets of outer strands, two yellow and two white, spiraling around four interior ribbons, two each of green/yellow/pink and blue/white/pink. The basal pontil is ground with faceting, the finishing style of the earliest hand made glass marbles.
