Here is a rare vintage antique tribal textile and a true museum quality mola (mola was part of and worn in a traditional blouse) from the 1950's to 60's 's of an anthropomorphic chicken with what appears to be a cracked open egg atop her head with the chicks feet sticking out upward. It could be a Kuna mola maker's hope for the future and the possibilities of new life. This mola typifies the period molas by having a very creative interpretation of the subject matter. Also molas of this period are characterized by a spontaneity and openness of interpretation, as well as a folk art joyous quality. This mola goes over the top in being a top notch collector's piece. The textile construction shows 9 fabric color cloth layered elements in Yellow , Red , Green , Maroon , Olvie Green , Navy Blue , Pink , White and Black. The smallest fabric detials measure about 1/16" and many of the smaller elements are also oversewn and embroidered with comlimentaryn thread colors. The eyes are circular thread overlayed and ccircular stitching tightly executed and outward subtle multi colored looser stitching for effect. It is full of other geometric and nature inspired elements of leaves and flowers and ric rac style complementary work. It measures : 20 in.
