~ Elk Medicine Bag ~ Original handcrafted bag by NW artist, Karen Prado. ...Elk symbolizes strength, power & nobility. They display a warrior disposition but are able to leave competition behind. Elk medicine is about maintaining stamina and embracing one's personal power, while cooperating for the good of the whole... Soft buckskin has been used for this pouch. The back and front top, incorporate the natural rough edge of the hide. The bag is hand stitched with double strand fringe. A very simple but powerful pouch, with lots of natural elements. The focal point is a sanded and buffed 1 5/8" piece of elk bone. Beside it hand 4 strands of leather that hold antique Awale chevrons, antique ostrich shell, antique carnelian and seed. The ends hold a coyote tooth, bison bone and deer antler. This open top pouch (no closure) measures 3 3/4" across by 4 1/4" long. The inside measurements are 3 1/4" across by 4" long. The fringe adds 5" to the length. The 3 strand braided strap is 41" and can be shortened by knotting or pulling down the straps on the back of the bag. Signed and dated by the artist.
