The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne by the late Rev Gilbert White. A New Edition, with notes, by several eminent naturalists and an enlargement of The Naturalists' Calendar. Printed in London for J and A Arch etc. No date. Contains Biographical Records of The Author, and Preface to this Edition dated 1832. Contains some small illustrations. Also contains Observations on Various Parts of Nature from Mr White's Mss with remarks by Mr Markwick, Meteorological Observations, Poems, Summary of the Weather, A Comparative View of the Naturalist's Calendar, as kept at Selborne in Hampshire by the late Rev Gilbert White and at Catsfield, Near Battle, in Sussex by William Markwick from the year1768 to 1793, Calendar of British Zoology, The Antiquities of Selborne, in the County of Southampton. 'The village of Selborne, and large hamlet of Oakhanger, with the single farms, and many scattered houses along the verge of the forest, contain upwards of six hundred and seventy inhabitants.' 562 pages. 8.75 x 5.25 inches. Some marking and wear to covers with covering worn from edges. Spine detached, worn and torn at edges. Book-plate to end-paper. Browning and marking to pages in particular pages 152-161. Pencil note to end-paper reads 'Interesting and scarce edition.'
