ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is a Very Scarce Antique Northwood GRAPE AND CABLE Whiskey Decanter made to go with a 7 piece Whiskey Set consisting of a Whiskey Decanter and 6 Shot Glasses from the early 1900's. The Base Glass color is PURPLE. A LARGE and HEAVY piece of glass. As the photographs show...this is a fabulous piece for your consideration with colorful iridescent features all the way around. Even on the stopper itself. These beauties are darn hard to obtain at all, seldom seen or sold, but especially with colorful iridescent properties. The photographs show the piece well...please look them over and enjoy. Dark areas in the photographs are absolutely shadows only. This is sharp example of one the most desirable shapes in Northwood's most desirable pattern. If you have been hunting a fine, fine Purple Whiskey Decanter to build a Whiskey Set with...here is a vibrant specimen with handsome visuals...look it over and give it serious consideration. This one is NOT marked. Not all Northwood was marked...It has been well documented that only 1/2 were marked or less. I have owned several of these over the years and I have never seen one that was marked. It is absolutely an authentic Northwood piece, I guarantee it 100%. Antique Northwood its very Finest! It is every bit as gorgeous as the photos show. My photos are taken outside in natural indirect sunlight. I never use a flash or props. I never enhance photos, never have, never will. I aim to show you the best iridescent color the piece offers. If the piece looks awesome in the photos...that is because...it is! What you see is what you will get! ITEM MEASUREMENTS: The piece is 11 inches tall at the tallest point. 4 1/2 inches wide at the widest point including the handle. A tall and HEAVY piece of glass! BASE GLASS COLOR : PURPLE ITEM CONDITION: There are NO CHIPS or REPAIRS on this Very Scarce, Absolutely Beautiful Northwood Whiskey Decanter. An Superb piece of Antique Glass! THE BASE: The mold seams are barely there to the touch...nice and smooth. I can make out just very light shelf wear on the bottom of the base which is very common for this antique glass...nothing uncommon on this gem. The piece sits flat and level on a flat surface. THE INTERIOR: I can't make out any wear on the interior surface of this beauty and its clean. The opening, so prone do damage on these, matter of fact I have never owned one that didn't have some damage, is PERFECT! I see no damage at all. The spout is well formed, no wear either which is extraordinary. THE EXTERIOR: I can't make out any wear on the exterior...even on the thumbprint around the bottom which is extraodinary for these. The iridescent presentation is absolutely fabulous all the way around. The only thing I found to mention at all is there is a manufacturing heat check in the neck. Photo 9 shows a dark line. Photo 10 shows a close up of the line from the outside. You can easily see it is 100% iridized over...absolutely proving it was formed when the piece was made. As it appears to be a common manufacturing surface stretch mark, the depth of the line can only be seen if it is held to a very strong light source and the piece turned just right. Had I not mentioned it, most would never, ever spot it as surface stretch marks are very, very common. It is absolutely a manufacturing mark, been there for 100 years and is completely insignificant, in my opinion, on a very scarce piece with exceptional iridescent beauty. The piece is quite sharp.
